Based on the model of the original lab schools piloted by John Dewey, Habla in Merida, Mexico, is an international, cross-cultural space for students of all ages.

Habla connects people across communities building a world of understanding in which culture is not a barrier, but rather a possibility.

 

Habla is an international language and arts schools as well as a gathering space for educators around the world. Each year Habla hosts an international teacher institute. Students visit throughout the year to learn Spanish and local students of all ages participate in a range of language and arts classes.

In 1998 Eileen Landay, Nancy Hoffman, and Kurt Wootton established the ArtsLiteracy Project at Brown University to pioneer innovative solutions for literacy teaching and learning. Working with a team of over thirty-five teaching artists, the ArtsLiteracy Project built programs in numerous school districts across the United States.
